I've set-up this site to make it easier for people to donate to the
Comforts of Home Care Packs for Soldiers cause.
As 2009 was nearing an end, I began to reflect on the past year & ponder the upcoming one. I thought about my husband's recent retirement from the US Navy & my brother-in-law's up and coming deployment. They have each given so much of themselves, not only to the military but also as volunteer firemen in the community. They are men that have sacrificed and have put their lives on the line for others daily. Courageous, selfless, caring men that only want to do what they can to help people.
1500 Vermont National Guard soldiers are being deployed this month. That's 1 out of every 400 Vermonters. Not only is this the largest number of Green Mt. Boys to be deployed since WWII, but it's also the highest per capita of any other state.
All this reflection has got me wanting to do more, to make a difference.
My mission: gain enough donations in order to send an equal number of Avon Care Packs to deployed soldiers as are serving from Vermont. The magic number is 1500...my goal. This is going to be hard work, but I'm confident it is possible.
